Rishikesh-Gaurikund-Kedarnath-Vasuki Tal

The trek starts from Rishikesh and goes on to Gaurikund, where one can have a freshing bath in the hot water sulphur springs after completing the arduous trek. The trek from Gaurikund to Rambara winds along the river Mandakini through forests and across beautiful waterfall. The trek from Kedarnath to Vasuki Tal is a continuous ascent along a goat track and it offers a panopramic view of the Chaukhamba peaks. The final trek to Vasuki Tal is downhill for 1 km. At the bottom of this, one can see rectangular slab of rocks interlocked by rock hinges.

Dodital-Hanuman Chatti-Yamunotri

Soft trek
Dodi Tal is situated at an elevation of 3024 mts., north of Uttarkashi and is surrounded by dense woods of oak, pine, deodar and rhododendrons. The crystal clear lake is full of rare fishes and the Himalayan Golden Trouts. The trek to Dodi Tal commences from Uttarkashi to Kalyani and is approachable by road. Kalyani to Afoda is a gradual climb through woods, fields and villages on a mule trek from Agoda to Dodi Tal is steep and through thick forests.
Best Season: The route is open throughout the year, though in winters it is quite cold. For summers, a round trek is possible from Hanuman Chatti to Uttarkashi via Dodi Tal.

Gaumukh-Nandan Van-Tapovan

This trek combines the experience of mountain climbing, rock climbing, and boulder hopping and glacier transversing. It passes through orchards of coniferous pine trees at Chirbasa and birch at Bhojwasa. From Gaumukh to Nandan Van, one traverses along the Gangotri and Chaturangi glasiers. From Nandan Van, view the Shivling, Bhagirathi, Sudarshan, Thelu peaks and Kedar Dome. Cross the Gangotri glacier and rocky face before arriving at the lust green meadows of Tapovan, surrounded by many named and unnamed peaks of the Garhwal Himalayas.

Surrounded by river Pushpavati and small steers, at an elevation ranging between 3000 to 4000mts., the valley is nearly 10 kms. in length and 2 kms. in width. The trek starts from Govinghat (19 kms.) on the way to Badrinath, having two major gradients one initially from Alaknanda suspension bridge of Govindghat to Pulna village for 2 kms, and the either from Bhundar to Ghangharia. After trekking 2 kms. from Ghangharia to bifurcation point is reached. The routes are well marked here.

Uttarkashi-Sahastratal-Khatling-Vasuki Tal Trek

Hard Trek (Seasonal) high altitude trekking expedition.
The Khatling glacier is a lateral glacier, at the source of river Bhilangana. Sahastratal and Masartal are on the west and east of it. The valley of Bhilangana affords a panoramic view of snow-capped peaks and hanging glaciers, viz. Jogin group, Kirti Stambha and Meru are sublime and magnificient. The whole trek passes through thick forests and lust green meadows. In the rainy season, the meadow bursts with splendid flowers. Trekkers will have to cross scores of small streams on improvised log bridges along this route.

The trek from Osla to Har-ki-Doon is through terraced mountain fields, lust green grassy land conifer forests.

A cultural and historical trek in the Jaunsar - Babar region at the foothills of the Garhwal Himalayas, between the river, Yamuna and the Tons. This trek has great historical importance, for at Kalsi there is a rock edict of the Ashokan period in Pali script. At Birat Khoi is a fort, which according to a legendary epic, Mahabharat belonged to Maharaja Birat. At Lakhamandal also there is an ancient palace of the Kauravas. It is now in ruins but is believed to have been made of lac for the Pandavas.

Kumaon
Kumaon, a land resplendent in awesome natural splendour is a jewel of the glittering Himalayan necklace. Extending from the northern end of the Ganga plains right upto Tibet, Kumaon’s endless panorama of scienic wonders is nothing short of a romance with pristine and sould lifting nature itself.

BHOWALI
Situated at an altitude of 1706 mts. And 11 kms from Nainital on the main Haldwani-Almora road, Bhowali is a major fruit market and health resort.
Only 3 kms, from here is Ghorakhal, famous for the temple of Gollu Devta, a demi God highly revered by the Kumaonis. The famous Sainik School of India is also situated here.
Bhowali and Gethia are famous as townships which have well known sanatoriums. Similarly Jeolikote (1219 mts) is famous as health resort and for its butterflies, as also for production of honey, mushrooms and fruits including strawberries and leechi. On the Almora – Ranikhet road one can also visit the temple complex of Kainchi.
From Bhowali one can go to Bhimtal, Ramgarh, Mukteshwar, Almora and Ranikhet.

GUPTKASHI
Guptkashi has a great importance quite like that of Kashi. The ancient Vishwanath temple, Ardhnareshwar temple and Manikarnik Kund, where the two streams of Ganga and Yamuna meet are the main places of attrctions in Guptkashi.
It is believed that after the battle of Mahabharata, the Pandvas wanted to meet Lord Shiva and seek His blessings. But Lord Shiva evaded from Guptkahsi to Kedarnath as He did not want to meet the Pandavas, the reason being that although they had fought for the right cause they were also responsible for destroying their own dynasty.
Guptkashi is situated at an altitude of 1319 mts. The one Stupa is constructed in Nala which is quite close to Ukhimath. Some local people call it the grave of Rana Nal.

Situated at a distance of 14 kms from Kotdwar, Kanwashram is an important place from historical and archaeological point of view. It is believed that Saint Vishwamitra meditated here. God Indra got scared of such devoted meditation and sent a beautiful heavenly damsel named Menka to disturb his meditation. Menka finally succeeded in diverting Vishwamitra’s attention. After giving birth to a girl she went back to heaven. This girl later became Shakuntala who got married to the prince of Hastinapur and gave birth to Bharat (the prince after whose name our country got the name of Bharatvarsh).

The trek starts form Rishikesh and goes on to Gaurikund, where one can have a refreshing bath in the hot water sulphur springs after completing the arduous trek. The trek from Gaurikund to Rambara winds along the river Mandakini through forests and across beautiful waterfalls.
The trek from Kedarnath to Vasuki Tal is a continuous ascent along a goat track and it offers a panoramic view of the Chaukhamba peaks. The final trek to Vasuki Tal is downhill for 1 km. At the bottom of this, one can see rectangular slabs of rocks interlocked by rock hinges.

Dodi Tal is situated at an elevation of 3024 mts., north of Uttarkashi and is surrounded by dense woods of oak, pine, deodar and rhododendrons. The crystal clear lake is full of rare fishes and the Himalayan Golden Trouts. The trek to Dodi Tal commences from Uttarkashi to Kalyani and is approachable by road. Kalyani to Agoda is a gradual climb through woods, fields and villages on a mule track. The trek from Agoda to Dodi Tal is steep and through thick forests.
Best Season :
The route is open throughout the year, though in winters it is quite cold. For summers, a round trek is possible from Hanuman Chatti to Uttarkashi via Dodi Tal.

It passes through orchards of coniferous pine trees at Chirbasa and birch at Bhojwasa. From Gaumukh to Nandan Van, one traverses along the Gangotri and Chaturangi glaciers. Pitch a camp at the junction of Chaturangi and Bhagirathi-Gangotri glaciers. From Nandan Van, view the Shivling, Bhagirathi, Sudarshan, Thelu peaks and Kedar Dome. Crossing the Kalindi pass, one treks down to Arwa glacier and Arwatal (3910 mts.) to Badrinath via Ghastoli with two main rivers crossing on the way. Thre trek starts from Govindghat(19 kms.) on the way to Badrinath, havaing two major gradients, one initially from Alaknanda suspension bridge of Govindghat to Pulna village for 2 kms, and other from Bhundar to Ghangharia. After trekking 2 kms. from Ghangharia a bifurcation point is reached. The routes are well-marked here.

The Khatling glacier is a lateral glacier, at the source of river Bhilangana. Sahastratal and Masartal are on the west and east of it. The valley of Bhilangana affords a panoramic view of snowcapped peaks and hanging glaciers, viz. Jogin group, Kirti Stambha and Meru are sublime and magnificent. The whole trek passes through thick forests and lush green meadows. In the rainy season, the meadows burst with splendid flowers. Trekkers will have to cross scores of small streams on improvised log bridges along this route.

Lilam- Bogudiyar (2450 mts.)12 kms. trek. In the thick forest of Uttes, the Ralam rivulet meets the Gori Ganga. After a steep uphill climb one reaches Bogudiyar, where the Poting rivulet meets Gori river. Overnight in tents.

Route 2 and 3
Almora-Paudhar-Jalna-Lamagara-Saharphatak-Mukteshwar (2 days). These are hill walks sure to be found attractive by going searching for the mystical allure at this altitude which the Almora region provides.

Ranikhet – Majkhali – Golchhina – Kausani (2 days).
Probably the best known route in this section, the long view from Kausani (1890 m.) are a life time experience. Tourist Bungalow at Kausani.
Route Two
Ranikhet-Gagas- Dwarahat-Dunagiri (3 days) Dwarahat (38 kms. from Ranikhet) has eight clusters of temples and is historically important.
Route Three
Ranikhet-Kalika-Majkhali-Kathphuria-Saitalkhet (2 days)
Sitalkhet (1829 mts.) 35 kms. from Ranikhet, has a TRH. The trail once again offers sublime views.
