हालांकि यह थोड़ा कम समय होता है किसी ब्राउजर को पूरा समझने में फिर भी क्रोम के बारे एक बात जो सबसे पहले आपका ध्यान खींचती है वह है इसकी तीव्रता. मैं आईई-6,7, ओपेरा, सफारी और फायरफाक्स का प्रयोग कर चुका हूं लेकिन यह उन सब ब्राउजर से तेज है. और जो बात सबसे ज्यादा निराश करती है वह है इसकी सादगी. आपको भी हैरानी हो सकती है कि सादगी तो इंटरनेट की जान है फिर इसमें निराश होनेवाली कौन सी बात है?

जब हम भारतीय परिवेश और यहां के इंटरनेट व्यवहार को देखें तो यही सबसे निराश करनेवाला पहलू लगता है. अपने 24 घण्टे के परीक्षण में जो कुछ समझा उसकी परख करते हैं. सबसे पहली बात हिन्दी से शुरू करते हैं. क्रोम हिन्दी की वह सुविधा लेकर आया है जो हिन्दी को इंटरनेट की मुख्यधारा की भाषा में शामिल करता है. वह आपको हिन्दी शब्दों के वर्तनी जांच की सहायता उपलब्ध कराता है, बस शर्त इतनी है कि आप जिस अप्लीकेशन में काम कर रहे हैं वह जावा सक्षम होना चाहिए. गूगल क्रोम 43 भाषाओं में उपलब्ध है जिसमें हिन्दी भी शामिल है. क्रोम आपको उसी भाषा में वर्तनी जांच की सुविधा देता है जिस भाषा में आप इसका प्रयोग कर रहे हैं. बस क्रोम डाउनलोड करते समय यह ध्यान रखें कि आपने भाषा का चुनाव हिन्दी किया है.

इसकी दूसरी खासियत है इसका टैब व्यवहार. संभवतः ओपेरा ने सबसे पहले सर्फिंग में टैब को स्वतः चालित प्रक्रिया के तहत ब्राउजिंग के साथ जोड़ा था और हर बार कोई लिंक या एक्सटेंशन क्लिक करने पर आपके सामने नयी विन्डो खुलने की बजाय एक नया टैब खुलता है. दूसरे ब्राउजर यहां तक कि आईई-7 में भी इसकी सेटिंग डिफाल्ट नहीं होती और उसी विन्डो में टैब खोलने के लिए आपको कन्ट्रोल बटन का सहारा लेना पड़ता है. गूगल ने यहां क्रोम को ओपेरा की तर्ज पर आटोमेटिक टैब सिस्टम लागू किया है इसके लिए आपको कन्ट्रोल बटन का सहारा नहीं लेना पड़ता. गूगल की इस टैब प्रणाली में आपके द्वारा ज्यादा प्रयोग की गयी वेबसाइटों का यह अपनेआप इतिहास बनाकर नये टैब में जोड़ता चला जाता है. जैसे ही आप न्यू टैब पर क्लिक करते हैं यह अपने आप सहेजे गये पृष्ठों को बाक्स में प्रदर्शित करता है. फिलहाल पसंदीदा साईटों को नये टैब में सहेजकर रखने की यह सुविधा केवल ओपेरा के ब्राउजर में मिलती है. 

गूगल अभी तक जिस फायरफाक्स को प्रमोट करता रहा है उसकी सबसे बड़ी खामी यह थी कि डिफाल्ट सर्च इंजन गूगल ही होता था जिसमें सीधे होमपेज से जीमेल आदि की सुविधाओं की कमी खटकती थी. आईई-7 आपको एकसाथ कई सारे होमपेज बनाकर रखने की सुविधा देता है इसलिए आपको इस लिहाज से आईई-7 ज्यादा सुविधाजनक लगता है. लेकिन आईई-7 की सबसे बड़ी समस्या उसकी मंथर गति है. भारत में 128 केपीबीएस स्पीड को ब्राडबैण्ड स्पीड कहा जाता है, जबकि पश्चिम के देशों में 1 एमबीपीएस की स्पीड ब्राडबैण्ड की श्रेणी में आता है. वह भी यह स्पीड आपको तब मिलती है जब आपका सेवा प्रदाता आपको बताता है कि आपको 256 केपीबीएस का ब्राडबैण्ड दे रहा है. औसत इंटरनेट उपभोक्ता इसी स्पीड पर काम करता है. छोटे शहरों और ग्रामीण इलाकों में तो यह स्पीड 76 केपीबीएस ही होती है. ऐसे में आईई-7 बहुत थका देनेवाला सौदा होता है. ओपेरा, सफारी और फायरफाक्स इस लिहाज से थोड़े बेहतर हैं लेकिन इतनी कम स्पीड पर कोई भी ब्राउजर ठीक से काम नहीं कर सकता.

शायद यही कारण है आज भी भारत में सबसे ज्यादा आईई-6 का प्रयोग किया जाता है. क्योंकि इसमें सुरक्षा मानकों आदि के लिहाज कोई खास इंतजाम नहीं हैं और कोई सुविधाओं की भरमार नहीं है इसलिए यह बहुत सादा और सटीक ब्राउजर कम स्पीड वाले इंटरनेट पर राज करता है. वैसे भी अपने यहां इंटरनेट का मतलब आईई-6 की बटन घूमता हुआ "ई" ही होती है. ब्राउजर के फीचर्स की बात करना यानी कोई अत्यधिक एडवांस टेक्नॉलाजी के बारे में बात करने जैसा है. हिन्दी पट्टी की बात छोड़िये जो अंग्रेजी के नेट प्रयोक्ता हैं वे भी इस बारे में कोई खास सावधानी नहीं रखते. असल में यहां ब्राउजर इत्यादि के बारे में ज्यादा तकनीकि जानकारी लोग रखेंगे भी क्यों? जिस देश में 90 फीसदी से ज्यादा कम्प्यूटरों में पायरेटेड विन्डोज प्रयोग होता हो वहां ब्राउजर की समुन्नत अवस्था और फीचर्स की बात तो दूर की कौड़ी ही लगती है.

खूबियां भी और खामियां भी

क्रोम को प्रयोग करते समय सबसे पहले आपको यह भूल जाना होगा कि आपके ब्राउजर के ऊपर कोई पट्टी आयेगी जिस पर फाईल, एडिट और आप्सन्श के बटन होंगे. क्रोम के निर्माताओं ने इसे क्यों हटा दिया है यह तो वे जाने लेकिन इससे विन्डो की साईज काफी बढ़ गयी है. जो लोग 14-15 इंच का मानीटर प्रयोग करते हैं उन्हें ज्यादा बेहतर विजबिलटी मिलेगी. लेकिन नये उपभोक्ता के लिए यही संकट का भी कारण होगा. जो सेटिंग्स आप सीधे जाकर निर्धारित कर देते थे उसके लिए कुछ शार्टकट को समझना होगा. क्रोम की एक बड़ी खामी यह है कि यह माउस के राईट क्लिक पर रिफ्रेश का आप्सन नहीं देता. भारत में लगभग सभी कम्प्यूटरों में विन्डोज के ही विभिन्न संस्करण प्रयोग किये जाते हैं ऐसे में प्रयोग करते समय आदतन हम अपना अधिकांश काम राईट क्लिक के जरिए ही करते हैं. जो लोग एप्पल प्रयोग करते हैं वे जानते हैं कि वहां सेव और रिफ्रेश/रिलोड आदि के लिए राईट क्लिक पर कोई आप्शन नहीं होता.

लेकिन एक अच्छी खूबी गूगल ने और जोड़ी है वह है गु्प्त पेज. यानी अगर आप ऐसी सर्फिंग करना चाहते हैं जिसका कोई रिकार्ड न बने और दूसरे लोग उसका अंदाज न लगा सकें कि आपने इंटरनेट पर क्या किया तो गूगल गुप्त बिन्डो का प्रयोग करिए. यह उन लोगों को लुभाएगा जो इंटरनेट पर अपने व्यवहार को दूसरों के सामने जाहिर नहीं करना चाहते.  

एक सीधी बात कही जा सकती है कि विन्डोज पर काम करनेवालों के लिए क्रोम परेशानियां भी पैदा कर सकता है और उन्हें इन्टरनेट ब्राउजिंग के लिए नये व्यवहार को समझना होगा. जाहिर सी बात है जो लोग पहले ही किसी न किसी ब्राउजर का प्रयोग कर रहे हैं वे इस नये ब्राउजर को नयेपन के नाम पर ही अनायास नहीं अपना लेंगे. जैसे यह ब्राउजर मेरे लिए भी कुछ परेशानियां पैदा कर रहा है, या फिर अपने को इतना टाईम नहीं है कि मैं इसको सिर्फ नयेपन के नाम पर समझने की कोशिश करूं क्योंकि डिफाल्ट एनकोडिंग यूटीएफ-8 करने के बाद भी एचटीएमल फार्मेट में हिन्दी नहीं दिखा रहा है और पाप-अप सेटिंग में बदलवा करने के बाद भी यह ओपेन नहीं कर रहा. इसलिए खास आपके लिए क्रोम में यह पोस्ट लिखने के बाद मैं तो फायरफाक्स और सफारी के प्रयोग से खुश हूं.

India's Surendra Singh has improved his one month old national record in the men's 10000m run with a new astonishing timing of 28:02.79s. Surendra finished 4th in the Spanish Olympic trials 'Campeonato De Espana de 10000' held in Vigo ( Spain).
Born in the farmer's family in village Ghandiyal ( Chamoli District) of Uttrakhand, Surendra took early lessons in running unintentionally by running daily 10km to attend Govt. Inter College at Gairsain.

Later he joined Garhwal Rifles regiment in 1999 as an ordinary entrant after failing five attempts where he was rejected for the reason of unfit body. Now Surendra will become the first athlete from Garhwal Rifle's 122 year old history to participate in the Olympics.

Surendra first represented Army in the National cross country held in Simla ( 2003) which earned him his maiden international cap for India. His brilliant run in the Asian Cross Country held in Pune in 2004 brought him in the notice of Army Sports Institute where he trained for the next one year before joining India's middle and long distance coach Dr. Nikolai Sneasrav's army in 2006 at Bangalore.

"I couldn't believe I have made it" said elated Surendra after the race. He further said
